[Vwdiesel] Oil pump replacement

As I understand it, all VW watercooled 4-cyl motors
have the same pan gasket up until the last three or
four years. So if you can find one for any engine up
till about '02 or so it should work.
In the couple I've messed with, I cannot remember for
sure if they were rubber or cork.
If you are getting leaks with new gaskets, I think you
need to make sure that the pan isn't warped or dented.
I've also been known to smear a thin layer of
silicone on the gasket.
