LOL, I got really good at guessing speeds, etc by
engine noise in my old beetle. Something went crazy
in the speedo, and when it got cold out it would
horrific screeching noises. So, I would just unhook
it for the winter.
There was a clock on the dash, so I could measure
miles/minute and know my speed, but it didn't take
long for me to know what the engine sounded like at
different speeds and I started going by that and when
I'd check the clock, I was usually dead on!
