  Timing is set by rotating the pump when it's installed.  Timing 
curve/advance characteristics are set by the parts it was built 
with and they replace them with like parts.  Only thing you can 
mess with is fueling a little.  In most NA cases you'll just gain 
smoke and with a TD you really don't want to go messing with 
it without a pyrometer.
