[Vwdiesel] Piston weight differences...

  Gee, never got an SB engine here.  Never got a LOT of engines 
here!
  Yeah, 26 grams while isn't the end of the world (probably better 
than most US engines were until the last decade or two) it's quite 
a bit.  I usually balance to a partial gram.
  Two places to remove metal.  I've seen the local shop use a 
lathe and spin metal off the bottom of the piston, below the 
wrist pin holes.   I generally use a medium drill bit and pepper the 
bottom of the piston top, where there's also a lot of metal.  
Haven't had to pull that much metal though.  I figure I add 
surface area for cooling but don't remove much overall 
thickness.
