I have a hitch on my  Jetta TD.  I have a 5X8 trailer I use to haul stuff.  Aren't Jetta and kGolf "frames" similar?  You want to make sure there is some weight on the tongue so the tail of the trailer doesn't wag the whole assembly.   And you want to drive conservatively.  I've hauled 30 4X8 sheets of 7/16 OSB in the trailer with the Jetta.  That's got to be 1300-1400 pounds.
