There are some small trucks made by VW, I know they
are available in Brazil and Mexico among other places.
(As of a couple years ago--a friend went to Brazil
and brought me back some brochures featuring the VW
models available there.) A couple years ago, I tailed
one in Nebraska that appeared to have a Mexico tag.
I know it is possible to import more recent cars, at
least from Canada, but it can be expensive. One
example I've heard of being done is the 1995 VW
Corrado. VW stopped selling the Corrado in the states
in '94 but sold '95 cars in Canada and the UK. I know
there are a few people who have purchased a Canadian
car and brought it in. I think the biggest thing is
they have to show that the car has the
safety/emissions equipment required of that year, and
I think these people have been able to get a letter or
something from VW stating such.
