Well, the old ones weren't exactly perfect, either. It just depends on who's 
opinion you are asking. If you campare the maintenance to run an older 
diesel with the TDI's, the TDI is far higher. But, the older cars won't keep 
up with a TDI, although the milage was a bit better. Now, I haven't worked 
on/driven one of the '08's yet, so I don't have an opinion on those yet.

Notice I use the word opinion here. That's all it is. That's all any of them 
are. I drive an 82 jetta and a 4000Q, both of which I can find horible 
reviews on. But, in *my* opinion, they are great cars.

Ahhh, back to my little world ;-)
