[Vwdiesel] Polo TDI

I like most, if not all of you, am a diesel driver. I hate to rain on the
parade, but let's not fool ourselves here. With all due respect, the
"stuff" coming out of most diesel tail pipes *is pollution.* Further,
diesel is a known carcinogen. Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player.
See http://www.californialung.org/spotlight/diesel_health.html. Hence, the
reason I run as much BioD as the weather will allow.

Having said that, I agree with much of what's been said here As mentioned
previously on this list, the famous Volkswagen 1 Litre proves that high
mileage diesel cars can be built.

We need to get back to basics and build light cars. One proven way is kit
cars. A good example is the car built by high school students in Philly.
http://www.autoauditorium.com/TdS_Reports_2005/photos_007.html. This 1800lb
chassis is powered by a VW TDI (rear) and an electric motor (front).

electric stuff, stick with the TDI and you'd have one heck of ride.

Yes, people naturally assume that smoke = more pollution when in fact that
smoke is mostly carbon and unburned diesel, which is not as much a pollutant
as what even 'clean' gassers put out
