I LOVE MY ESPAR D5!
I've got it mounted at the max 90 degree tilt under the trunk of the 91
ecodiesel, the fuel feed tapped into the regular fuel line as it leaves
the tank, and I've got a 1/8" aluminum skid/rock plate covering it.
I put in 5/8" lines inline from the heater core (then back to the water
pump). They run in a pipe-foam insulated bundle with the 3/8" veggie
line.
It's great for starting the car on those mornings when there's no plug
for the block heater (which is at least once a week - wife working the
hospital night shift).
That and the vegoil, defrost and engine are all nice and toasty and
ready to go.
I'm guessing I use less than 2 cups of fuel for the hour I run it, or
less than 50 cents. Leaving the block heater on for 4 hours costs
around 15 cents (300w * 4hrs * $0.13), but the Espar adds a LOT more
heat to the system.
