I have had 3 windshields install in the Audi during
the 7 years I owned it. I bought it with a cracked
windshield that would not pass inspection, so had to
replace in 2000. When they replace a glue in
windshield, they scrath up the steal and leave it
exposed. They may spray some primer on there, if you
are lucky. So, 4 years later, the Audi is leaking
water on my ECU on the Rt. side wall of car.
Fun, the car does not like to run with wet ECU!!!
So, only good fix try more adheasive, this did not
work. Had to remove a good windshield to find lots of
rust on sureface of steal preventing a good seal, the
windshield guy that did the job before split the cost
with me.
I took the car home without the windshield and prepped
the rusty surfaces and primered and painted them. New
windshield went in, have had not leaks since.
