[Vwdiesel] Rabbit Fenders

Rudy, There are about 4 13mm bolts along the top of the fender and the
same inside the fender toward the cab. One bolt is down on the bottom
outside of the fender near the jack spot. The bolts inside the fender
are always covered with undercoating so you must dig them out. I have
found that a propane torch and a tile knife make the job doable. After
all the fasterners are removed, take a propane torch to the inside of
the fender along the seam working a portion at a time- to soften/melt
the body seam sealant- use the hooked tile knife to cut the fender loose
from the body. It is really tough around the direction signal housing
and down at the bottom of the fender (lots of goop). Also cut the fender
loose from under the hood using the same procedure. Be patient as if you
aren't, you will bend the fender trying to pull it off. Keep some water
handy (hose or weed sprayer) as the undercoating is easy to ignite! I
suppose you could try a heat gun instead of a torch but I have a torch
and it can be used at a wrecking yard!

Would someone here who has removed Fenders from a Rabbit briefly explain
the process? I can't seem to find all the attachments and don't really
know how they're fastened. Thank.

Rudy
