[Vwdiesel] Polymerized Engine Oil

Now I have heard it all. The dumbest I have heard of yet outside of some politicians, which I won't get into, as the Pres. frowns on it & this should remain a discussion of car related problems. I suppose if you caught in a life threatening emergency & you couldn't get any oil or even used drain oil it would work but short of that, WVO as a lubricant sounds extremely STUPID! In a good sound engine, the best oil is the cheapest unless you love overhauling engines for free.
Amsoil markets several varieties of synthetic engine oil, but I prefer using their best & most expensive. I have been using their "Series 2000 0W/30 oil in my 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 since it reached 3,000 miles. The ZX3 now has over 104,000 miles on it & has not used any oil since I last changed it last summer prior to a trip from Calif. to Minn. & return. I guess it has about 11,000 to 12,000 miles on it & I haven't had to add a drop, & the dip stick is still at the full mark. In fact, I used this same oil in a 1996 Ford Escort which I turned over to my stepdaughter. Periodically, I would check the oil. I have an oil analyzer & the oil would continue to check as good. Last week I changed the antifreeze. The oil still checked on the oil analyzer as OK but I thought it was time to change any way. What I didn't realize was how long it was since I changed the oil. I mark the date & mileage on the oil filter. I found I had not changed the oil since I turned the car over to her in 2001 when I bought the Focus new. The car had gone 49,000 miles since then. I thought she had driven only a third of that distance. I think I recall adding a quart of Amsoil 0W30 to it a few years ago. The Escort still runs fine. She says it still gets 30 MPG which is mostly town driving.
