[Vwdiesel] Manifold Nuts

Smarter, better looking guys (and gals?);

I've started pulling the head on my Vanagon diesel to replace a head gasket
leak around cylinder #2. I last had the head off about 3-4 yrs ago for a
similar thing, at which time I replaced the head and all the manifold studs
and used new stainless nuts with lots of anti-sneeze. I consider that a
short time ago, and in that short time, a great many of the manifold nuts
have already degenerated to the point that there's not much of them left for
the socket to grab. Many crumble and round off.

Anyone have any suggestions for a different type / material of nut to use
when I reassemble so that the next time I or some other unlucky dude pulls
the manifold off, the nuts are still intact? If you offer something exotic,
also where to find / get it?

Thanks in advance,

Chris
