[Vwdiesel] Anyone know how to use the VW210 TB tension gauge?

Finally found someone with the directions for using the VW210 timing belt tensioner tool.

A page of directions from one of the tool suppliers is at:

Basically, it says to turn the knurled knob until its bevelled edge sits on the index mark of 13--the 13 index marks called for in the Bentley--and install it on the belt between the camshaft and injection pump. The sliding marker in the barrel should move to align with the bevel of the knob if the tension is correct. If it disappears inside the knob, the tension is too great. If it doesn't reach the bevel, the tension is too loose, and the belt should be tightened until the sliding mark meets the knob edge.

Thanks for those who offered suggestions.

As I recall you put the tool on the timing belt after
setting tension. Crank the knob to the desired setting
on the scale. Read where the sliding white-mark part is
pointing to. That's your tension. Adjust belt tension
and recheck if necessary.
