Dave,

I had a squealing speedo cable on my old Audi 4000q. It was due
to the plastic (holder?) on the end of the cable that mechanically
hold the cable in the back of ODO was cracked. Had to replace
because the sound of screaming banshees, at worst, or the muffled
sheeeeeks of a tortured rabbit, at best, was too much to bear.
Feeding the tortured rabbits various oils and lubes worked some
of the time. Never could determine the diet of a banshee on the
net or otherwise.  HTH.
