Depends on how much work you want to do. It's easier to sell
the car and just BUY one that came with an automatic. Dad
didn't want an automatic Golf but with Mom driving it he figured
he'd better. Still wishes he'd bought a std. but for her sake it's
best he didn't still.
From my looking for one, an auto seems to bring close to a
grand $$ more than a standard. I don't have time to do swaps
like that anymore. (or ever did!)
I found a cool tranny computer though while looking for stuff
for the '37 truck. It'll shift any TCU controlled tranny with just
a throttle position sensor (they said) I think a speed sensor would
be well worth it also. Can do a LOT. About $750. :-P
