[Vwdiesel] Diesel Tachometer in an older VW

And, that brings up my question. I have an 82 Jetta NA that has the Bosch 
alternator, and I have run a wire from the "W" terminal into the car. I 
finished most of the wiring for the Audi 90 dash I'm putting in it. When I 
fired up the car, the tach read about 4800RPM with teh car at idle. As I rev 
it up, the tach goes to teh end, then drops back sown to 4800 to start all 
over. What is wrong here? I was so excited to finally have a tach, then 
this...........
