[Vwdiesel] Diesel vs hybrid battle heats up

Yes, that is true now for these cars, but we seem to be in some kind
of weird times with them. It wasn't always the case - I think it's a
lot of factors coming together at the same time - rising demand for
the newer diesels because of biodiesel, better mileage and better
longevity combined with the *VERY* low supply of diesel cars here in
the states. If you were to look somewhere in Europe where every
manufacturer makes neat little diesel cars I would expect a different
story - more like the other cars.

I also think that this will even out eventually once more
manufacturers bring their diesel cars here. Get a better supply going
and everyone won't be fighting over the few that there are already.

I could be way off base, but that's what I would expect. I *like* the
idea of cars holding their value. If more people bought used cars and
kept them running as opposed to buying new then the value of a used
car would be higher, leading to more of them being worth it to
maintain, leading to more of them being maintained and less new cars
needing to be made. I don't see anything like that happening, but it's
a nice thought. Heck, anything that will actually drive down the road
should be worth $1000-2000, in my opinion. Then go up from there for
how nice they are.

Anyway...
Erik
