[Vwdiesel] Rear wheel drive not quite diesel

Don't know if they would fit or work but Volvo in the '80s used a 6 cyl VW truck diesel which was available with manual & automatics. Heard somewhere there are adopters to mate a VW Rabbit diesel to a Suzuki Samari 4wd. The BMW 524 6 cyl.TD is also rear wheel drive. Isuzu/Chevy Chevette also had some rear wheel drive diesels from the '70s & '80s as were some Toyota, Mazda/Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi/Dodge, Isuzu/Chev pickups from the same era. Perhaps our friends in the UK can suggest others. I suspect the easiest conversion would be some lite 4 cyl diesel pickup or Isuzu as you could use their engine/trans. combo & fabricate a driveshaft. Just guessing as engine swaps are over my head.
