[Vwdiesel] 91 whistling windshield

That's pretty common Val.

It's an easy thing to do wrong really. The urethane sealant/adhesive has
to be applied in a tall fillet like an upside down V, to ensure contact
360 degrees around the window when it is placed on the car. That's the
part that is easy to screw up- bump the fillet, make one part of the
sealent strip not high enough, push it down too hard in one spot the it
springs back up leaving a void. My 89 had the same thing exactly, and
exiting a touchless car wash through the blower drier pushed bubbles out
inside the car.
Dealer knew exactly what the problem was, just wasn't willing is my take
on it. They might have had to replace the glass when it was new- broken
in the lot or shop or something before you came along, and wasn't
willing to throw more money at it.
