[Vwdiesel] Car won't Start

I'm trying to sell my 1989 VW Jetta 1.6 NA

The thing ran out of oil due to a leaking front oil seal and I refilled it,
then the fuel filter clogged and I replaced it, now it won't start
It DOES however 'pop' when I try to start it, makes a jerk and sounds like
its catching, but then doesn't

Please help, I really need this car to be running so I can sell it :(
