Sounds lik ethe wrong outer CV joint on your new axle. There are a couple of
different designs, and for instance, I put a mk2 outer on a rabbit just to
move it (so not to damage the wheel bearing) and it locked up when tightened

I'm clueless on this. I replaced the left axle shaft because of failing CV
joint. I replaced the left front wheel bearing, just starting to grind and
could be wobbled. I torqued the axle nut to 175 ft/lb, but when I did that,
the wheel locks up. Loosen it a little and no problem. OK, admittedly, the
torque wrench I use is nowhere near the most expensive. Is the wheel lockup
because I have overtorqued it? The local machine shop removed the old wheel
bearing assembly and re-installed the new wheel bearing. Thanks to all!
