  Shouldn't be since the cab IS the front of a 4-door Rabbit.
  Something's wrong if torquing down the nut locks up the 
wheel.  The Pressure exerted is from the "flange" of the CV
joint, through the solid, center race of the bearing, to the 
hub then to the washer and nut.  To lock up, something has 
to be binding.
  Of course if you pull the hub then the bearing will be toast.
