My bad. 

Not using studs, just the usual stretch bolts. Works with them. YMMV

I use a pair of cut-off head bolts, modified tith a narrow screw-driver
slot, as locating pins for the gasket and head on assembly. They stick up
about 3", and I carefully rounded the ends so they don't scratch the head if
I miss puting it on. The slots are tight enough on the screwdriver blade to
lift them out after a couple of the new head bolts have been inserted to
locate things.
