[Vwdiesel] 81 Rabbit leaky coolant temp sender

hey guys
second try on this
there is some kind of temp sending unit on the back of my engine block  
that is dripping
been all through Haynes and could find no mention of it
don't want to pull it without the replacement in hand
location: back of the engine block about 1' above the oil pan drain plug
has an electrical lead to it
thanks for any help at all
