[Vwdiesel] gasket question

That is what I thought due to how they fit on the head, otherwise they
interfere with the intake gasket.

The Metal faces the Head on two of the Gaskets and away from the Head on two
of them.  Take a close look at them installed and you'll see how they have
to go.

OK since I'm working on a head R/R here is another question.

 

Does it matter what side the metal part of the exhaust gasket faces?  The
gaskets have metal on one side and material on the other.  Does the metal
face the manifold or the head?
