[Vwdiesel] VW injection pump head seal replacement

I went out and bought a longer bolt with the same threads as the
center bolt and then used those same instructions. There is a cam
plate and rollers in there that will get out of place and you will
have to have the pump off of the car to put it back together because
you need to stand it on end to keep things in their place while
re-assembling. The bolt in the center holds the plate where it's
supposed to be, which also keeps the rollers sitting where they're
supposed to be. Be careful to not put too much force on that center
bolt cause you don't want to damage anything internally. That way you
back out the bolts on the four corners a turn or partial turn and then
screw the center one in until it touches. You keep repeating that
until you can see the o-ring. Then just do the reverse to slowly press
it back on. It takes a while, but is much easier than messing with
getting things back in position if they fall out when you're trying to
do it. (That is a heartbreaking sound when you hear the internal parts
shift around.)
Good luck,
Erik

Gradually work back and forth between the torx bolts and the center bolt loosening the torx a little, tightening the center one a little. When flush, the bolts are inserted clost to a 1/2" so there should be plenty of threads still inserted into the pump to keep the bolts from falling out.
