It is that same 2.1l TD, and you guessed its destined home.
It is being swapped from a 1987 Cherokee Chief to a 1985 Cherokee Laredo.
It had 3 broken valve rocker arms and a busted timing belt, and a burst
headgasket. I've just finished flushing the nasty oil/water mix out of the
block, cleaning the water pump, sanding off the rust and dirt and re-seating
the headgasket and head.
I still have to find a timing belt (48.00 from a supplier) and valve rockers
($110 used, $160 new)
It actually has the same bosch injection pump as a 1.6 or 1.9 VW
Turbodiesel, which I found amusing. Their injectors are weird though,
whereas on a VW the injectors screw in the ones on this engine are held in
by two bolts and a large metal bracket. I do like the braided fuel return
lines however.
