Loren,
You nailed it. In the process of cleaning the engine, and fiddling around
w/ all the hoses, I must have opened up the return circuit.. though I don't
know where...
I have a '91 with the heated return lines running through the filter, and
I'm not wild about the return fitting that clips on the filter.. wondering
if I that was the culprit.. and if I should attach w/ sealant.
Other than that, I'll be replacing all lines tonight, going in w/ fresh
clear tubing.

So, I pulled and filled both feed and return lines to the pump, and still
had to crack an injector fitting to bleed the air out, then it started to
fire on 1, then 2, till it cleared its throat.
Is this what Hagar was talking about when he advocated adding a squeeze
bulb fuel primer, like for outboard boat engines, to the suction side?
I think he was maintaining it was a result of the new skinny fuel..
Many thanks again,
Mark

Well, if all the glow plugs are working, your voltage will show low
due to resistance in the wire, and the glow plugs' "drain" to ground
that can't go through your tester.
Are you getting white smoke out the tailpipe? If so then check
the gp's more. If not then you picked up a slight leak in a hose,
probably a return hose, and it sucked the fuel down in the pump.
Pull your return banjo and see if the pump's full. If not then fill,
crank about 15 seconds or so and it should start. (put the bajo
bolt back in of course.)
