I have heard with bio diesel that it is more acidic so if you had stuff in your tank it may have cleared it out. It is possible that the tank you got it from was contaminated also as the only thing preventing growth of organisms in the diesel tanks was the high sulfur. I know at the coal mine I work at we have to treat our tanks and we have only low sulfur and not ultra low (500 ppm vs I think 5 ppm). That coupled with water and growth can really take off if it isn't a place that goes through a lot of diesel (depending on location of the fuel place. A local store went through one tank a month about. So this may have been a factor with the fuel filter and also with your shut off. Once the organisms are killed they do create a residue that clogs up filters.
With the AC belt breaking. I don't have an ac but if it is on the same pulley that your water pump is on that may have locked up. Just a thought. And if your engine did break a timing belt there most likely would be more evidence. It may be possible that the cam stopped with no valves open but unlikely. If the belt is fine I would STRONGLY recommend replacing the belt, water pump and timing belt tensioner pulley. Look at it like this, those items are cheap compared to a replacement engine and even if you don't care about that. You will care if it blows up in the middle of the night with no cell service on a low traffic back road. Never take some ones word on replacement of the belt and after a few years just replace it anyways.Travis G
