[Vwdiesel] A fuel mix-up

So a friend called me tonight.  Seems he was being generous and loaned 
his ALH TDI to someone.  It started to run low on fuel.  I think you all 
can see where this was going.....

It ran for a block when it finally choked on the gasoline.  I told him 
to siphon the tank, change the filter and try to purge the injector 
lines, which will happen naturally when he's trying to bleed out the new 
filter. 

Dad's wife did this on a freshly rebuilt Volvo Diesel and it lived long 
enough to die of a timing belt failure.  Anyone have any better advice 
or more TDI specific advice?  I already told him to loan out his gas VW 
instead next time--his friends clearly aren't smart and good-looking 
enough.
