[Vwdiesel] re-torqueing the head

  Nope, those are for 12mm Raceware head studs only.  11mm
Raceware is similar only slightly different torque specs.  11mm 
stock head bolts are 37/52/66 ft lbs in those three steps, 
then warm up, recheck the 66, drive 600 miles, recheck the 66.
(I go closer to 70 instead of 66).  12mm bolts call for 30/44 ft-lbs 
then 180 degrees, warm up and go another 90 degrees, drive 600 
miles and go another 90 degrees.
  If you have the original engine (or any 1.6 newer than '81) then 
it'll have the 12mm stretch bolts, unless Raceware or ARP head 
studs have been installed.  In that case you'll have nuts instead 
of bolt heads under the valve cover.
  Not doing the retorques when called for is a good way to get 
a leaky head gasket.
