[Vwdiesel] 1.9 diesel pump difference from 1.6

Mike. I pulled the pump out just now and compared to
1.6td pump, both on bench.
1. The 1.9 uses standard injector lines, same
2. The 1.9 NA pump can use a manual advance cable or
electronic, I will use the manual hookup and
dis-connect the electric thing as that will only add
to my clearance issue I am going to have fitting this
pump under my engine cover lid in my vanagon.
3. The mounting holes are the same as 1.6, no issue
there, can use your same 1.6 pump mounting bracket.
4. The 1.6 pump spocket fits on the 1.9 shaft and key
way, same.

Here is what alarmed me. The 1.9 has a good 1/2 to
3/4" distance that it is going to put the pump
sproket, out away from the pump. There is more body
to the pump at shaft end and the drive shaft is just
longer on the end that you bolt the sproket onto, I
will have to take a picture to show you. This is
going to be an issue.
I have a 1.9 pump mounting bracket that I will have to
dig out and see how this differs from the 1.6. My
guess it this will pull the pump body back towards the
vacuum pump, thus aligning the pump sproket with the
timing belt again.
More to follow then.
Bryan
