Greg, that's an interesting one. I'm not sure about besshousing mounting, 
but I know the old 924 engine was essentially the same ast eh 100LS, so 
those may be the same as a VW. However, I can't imagine anything short of a 
TDI (or at least a 1.9 TD) properly powering a 944, as they are a good bit 
heavier than a Jetta/Golf/Rabbit. Another consideration may be a MB diesel, 
but there again, not sure about the power of one. The only one I know of 
that's a big 4-cyl is the 240D, and they weren't turbo as far as I know.

Keep us informed as to what you find, though. I always like projects like 
this.
