  If it's the case of not going far enough forward, you simply loosen 
the lock clamp/nut/bolt under the steering rack then tap the shifter 
slightly forward, retighten and recheck.  Two people makes it easier 
so one underneath can see when it moves and one in the car to tap 
it.
