[Vwdiesel] Golf Raising

Since we are talking about suspension I was wondering if there is any way to raise my 2004 vw Golf as it seems pretty low and they don't plow snow much were I live, so the higher the better. I saw this web site http://www.metalnerd.com/cat09.htm for some pucks that can be installed but they won't do it on one with electronic stability control and I have that. I don't know if the pucks would even be safe as it states it is in testing faze of the produce. I really don't want to replace the shocks yet but if I have to (62,000 mile on the car) I can and will if someone knows where to get a good set of shocks to raise it up. It looks like the air ones that have been posted are for lowering more then raising and I don't know how they would handle (to rough or soft). Any help for raising would be appreciated. Thanks.
