[Vwdiesel] diesel prices and my latest MPG

Well after three days at $1.99 for diesel, the Shell/7-11 station near  
my house has raised the price of diesel to $2.97.  Now they are higher  
than several other of the local stations.  Oh well, I took advantage  
while it was cheap.

My latest mileage obtained by strictly following the posted speed  
limit and using some "pulse and glide" techniques (coasting) and  
shutting the car off at exceptionally long traffic lights - 43.3 mpg,  
the average of my last 4 tanks has been 42 mpg.  This is with  
approximately B80 (homebrew) in the tank and my 11-12 mile one way  
trip on suburban/urban freeways.  I have really come to appreciate the  
right lane.  I almost never have to slow down or speed up because of  
other cars so I actually can put the car on cruise control and leave  
it.  I have found that my stress level is also much, much lower.  The  
rest of you ought to try it.  Your might just live longer.  Hayden
