It certainly sounds like the solonoid, but double check the cables and
connections also. And, you can put a meter on the starter end and the
battery to check for voltage drop while cranking. Do this for both the
positive and ground side. Basically, you put the meter on volts, put one
lead on the battery post, the other on the positive post of the starter. You
should have very little if any voltage show. If it's significant (more than
about .3V) you have a connection problem somewhere.
As for the starter, you should be able to find someone who can rebuild it.
We have a shop here that can rebuild nearly anything, I'm sure there is a
similar place close to you.
