[Vwdiesel] early oil change 09 Jetta

In the case of the TDI engine, follow the owners manual. I know on my Rabbit, it'd be about to stall out from the sludge they would call oil after 10K miles, but for the TDI, 10K is actually changing early. When the '99 TDIs came out, there were tests done on TDIclub.com on the oil after 10K miles and 20K miles. The oil could have gone for another 10K after that. Sounds crazy, I know, but hey, I've had my TDI for 8 years and 175K miles, and have had 0 problems with oil consumption. I've changed every 10K or so with 5w40 synthetic.
Also, what the other posters have said is true. The oil that is put into the engine in the factory is a very specific oil formulated for engine break in. It's really important that you don't change it early during the first interval.
The most important part with the '09 is to change the oil with the recommended VW oil. It uses a very specific formulation, and if you don't use that it's bad. I'm not sure why, but it is. ;-)
So my advice: Don't touch the oil until 10K miles. Definitely don't change it at 1100. You'll do yourself a disservice.

>Any ideas about an initial oil change at 1100 miles on a new 09 Jetta, all vehicles I have owned in the past I have changed the new oil early as the engine has broken in.
> The owners manual states 1st oil change at 10,000 miles, I find this very optimistic.
