I can't offer advice on how to repair a seized turbo but how to keep a good one from going bad. 1) Run synthetic oil. 2) Before stopping the engine, let it idle a minute or so to cool down. Why? Turbos have engine oil under pressure to lubricate its bearings. Ordinary oil will burn at around 300 degrees while synthetics can stand 500 to 600 degrees before breaking down from heat. Turbos under load, Exhaust temperatures, I understand, can climb to over 1,000 degrees F. On my Quantum diesel, I am planning to add a boost gage & pyrometer gage in addition to oil pressure, voltmeter, & an extra water temperature gage.
