  I'd save the postage.  You'll have to explain to me how the 
alternator is capable of disconnecting the power from everything 
for a moment.  If you're thinking it stops generating then the 
battery would still be supplying power.  If you're thinking there's an 
intermittent short then it'd be frying wires.  A short is a short and
if it's capable of shunting the current to everything then it's GOING 
to smoke some wire. 
  As Sandy said it has to be a connection issue.  Problem with the
ignition switch, the X relay or something like that.
