In my experience with the MK 1 bodies, I would agree that the most likely
culprit is the wheel bearing.Mine haven't had the thing where they get
louder or quieter on turns, heavy acceleration, or really anything else that
I expected to be associated with a wheel bearing.
But I have no idea (at all) how that would translate to a newer car.
Possibly useful, possibly a waste of time.
Though the free play disappearing in your clutch pedal wouldn't have
anything to do with a bearing, so unless that's a coincidence....?
