Often the filters will come with 2 short lengths of rubber hose which can be
used as "joiners" to couple directly to the hard plastic tubing going to the
pump input, which has a self destructive death grip on the input banjo and
resists all attempts to remove.

This will remove ALL fuel issues from the system except the pump itself.

Use your imagination. I will not describe a complete step by step. YMMV

Run a return tube from the pump output back in to the jug unless you want to
send your 1 Gal to your tank in about 5 min.
