[Vwdiesel] changing oil on a 2001 Golf??

Just goes to show you the power of advertising (and ignorance, and
uninformed good intentions). Most people want to maintain their cars well,
but don't know squat about how to actually do so. So they see the ads from
Jiffy Lube on TV telling them that changing the oil frequently will solve
all manner of ills, and so they think that frequent oil changes are a
panacea.
And then, as is human nature, some people think that if 3k is good, then 2k
must be better...
However I wouldn't say that ALL TDI owners are cool with 10k changes... many
do 5k changes because they "aren't comfortable" going to 10. Of course some
of these are the same ones that won't use the correct oil. Both stem from
the same basic ignorance of the physics/chemistry behind it all.
