[Vwdiesel] changing oil on a 2001 Golf??

I would agree with everything you said, except I don't understand how the half quart would be trapped with the drain plug but not with sucking it out the dipstick?  The drain is the bottom of the pan, and the sucker should basically be going the same place, right?  

As I just got my hands on a TDI motor, and change the oil on a couple others for people, I'd like to know this.
