[Vwdiesel] changing oil on a 2001 Golf??

I think the 1/2 quart that is being talked about is the bit that is trapped in the oil filter area. I bottom side but it gives me a good reason to look at how the under side of the car is doing (lots of road hazards in WY and the mountains). I did install one of those valves though so I just have to flip a lever instead of removing the plugs and getting oil on my hands everything. It is the valve tdiclub.com advises. I then use a turkey baster (improv for tooling) to get the remaining oil out of the filter area. I also choose the valve also because I don't trust the aluminum oil pan threads and I don't want to have stripped threads if I one day install the plug wrong.
