[Vwdiesel] changing oil on a 2001 Golf??

All I know is when I bought the car, the VW dealer was very specific
about using synthetic oil due to the high temps of the turbo. Whether
that's true or not, who knows? They started me on 5W30, and then a
TSB came out a couple years later saying to switch to 5W40. I've
never heard to use 15W40 dino oil in the TDI.

I didn't mean to imply that any list members were 'lazy' since they
were doing topside oil changes, I was talking about crawling around
under the car. On the Rabbit, I've discovered many potential problems
under the car that I wouldn't have seen if I were doing topside oil
changes. The TDI has been flawless as far as the engine/drivetrain
are concerned, but you never know.

If I offended the present diesel heads, I apologize.
