  I still haven't figured out how a topside change will get the oil 
out of the cooler.  I've considered the belly pan to be an 
inconvenience but not really a PITA.  5 bolts on the Passat and 
pop it out.  Don't remember how many on the Golf.  I've always 
found the filter to be much more of a pain than the belly pan.
