I have some questions & a comment. I have read this before but can't remember. I see reference to A-1, A-2, etc. If I recall, A,B,C, etc refers to the platform of the various models, Rabbit/Golf, Jetta, Dasher/Quantum, Passet, etc & the number refers to age of that particular model. I guess the German built Rabbits '74  thru '79 Would be #1, USA Rabbits #2, or am I confused? Next, why is a Rabbit pickup called a "Caddy"? When I see someone refer to a Caddy, I think Cadillac. Would appreciate someone classifying which years & models correspond to A-1, B-2, etc. 
If a light is blinking which signifies water in the system, why would you want to bypass the system? Water, I understand is an enemy of an IP & injectors & you would want to drain water from the system. Perhaps a review of where to drain water from the system is in order. Does my Dasher, Quantum & MB 300SD have water separators & if so, where? Guess I have been so involved in solving other issues that I overlooked ort ignored these questions. If I recall correctly, the VW Rabbits (first generation) had no water separators.
