Don't think so, other than the filter itself.
Just dealt with an '86 Ford 6.9 that's sat for some time, wouldn't
start. Had fuel but not a lot. Pulled the filter and there just wasn't
much being pumped but should've been enough. Pressurized the
tank a few times to no avail. I noticed a puddle under the front
left corner of the cab. The water separator (which replaced the
original POS one) was leaking. I checked the valve and couldn't
move it. Pulled the filter and went to turn the valve on the bench.
The whole bottom just fell right out! New filters and it started
right up (and the return collars started leaking). Apparently it was
sucking enough air to keep it from sucking fuel. There were no
fuel leaks until I'd put pressure to the tank a few times.
Just a story that might help someone down the line.
